"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in men" Psalm 118:8

Milestones in History

by Doug Dexhimer

Did you know that the “Creation Science Movement” had its start long ago in England? Here is a link to their website:

The Creation Science Movement, founded in 1932 as "The Evolution Protest Movement" by a small group of Christians concerned about propaganda promoting the notion that evolution is a scientifically proven theory, has grown in strength over the years. The concern that the deceptions of evolutionary teaching were invading the schools and churches of their day in England, spread to America, Australia, and around the world.

In 1961, a book by Whitcomb and Morris, “The Genesis Flood,” was first published in the US.

The book received a lot of attention from popular geologists and theologians. It has been through 22 editions, and 200,000 copies. Dr Henry Morris went on to become one of the founders of the Creation Research Institute in California.

One of our own, Rev. Glenn H. Kailer, wrote the following article which appeared in CSA News Volume 9(4) July-Sept, 1992. This article builds upon the truth of Scripture, and reveals the deceptions of evolution.

Implications of Biblical Creation

Our study of the natural sciences indicates that evolution is contrary to all experimental data. Evolution is not a conclusion that one deduces from the facts of science or history. Evolution is a belief system that is imposed on the facts.

As a belief system, evolution is much more than a story told in science circles. It becomes the standard of conduct for believers. When believers in evolution dominate a society, evolution becomes the ruling paradigm of that society. Though America was once a nation in which Biblical values were largely presupposed, these values have been seriously eroded by the incessant rain of evolution propaganda.

Our purpose here is to sketch the basic elements of Biblical creation and evolution and the way either model of reality will shape our approach to the affairs of life.

According to Biblical history, man introduced disorder into God's perfect design through sin. Because of man's sin, we deal every day with the curse on the physical world. We observe that every kind of system, according to the Second Law of Thermodynamics, proceeds from a state of order to a state of disorder or chaos. We notice that available energy in any system tends to deteriorate. That is to say that maximum potential for productive work in any system exists at the moment of its creation. Experience tells us that this is true not only of physical machines, but of relationships and institutions, as well. Cars rust, romance gets stale, churches stagnate.

We point out that the Scripture writers were not at all unaware of this process. Paul writes in Romans 8 of the subjection to frustration, the bondage to decay. But the emphasis of Romans 8 is a message of hope in the context of physical decay:

"I consider that our present sufferings (that is, our present trials, our frustrations, our aggravations, all the kinds of things we have to deal with in this life) are not even worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the Sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God."

Paul directs our attention to the reason for hope in the face of decay: the powerful thing that God is doing in his new creation to reestablish his original order and to bring us back to a state of perfection according to his original design.

According to evolution principles, we must expect that things are just somehow getting better, that disorder is decreasing despite evidence to the contrary. It is interesting to me that as we look at things around us, we all experience decay and yet somehow, we have been brought around to thinking that things are really getting better. Think about this for just a minute. How many times have you looked at a "system" or a problem in your life and said, "Well, it's just got to get better?" Are you thinking within a Biblical and scientific framework or are you operating within the framework of evolution mythology?

How many times has a church leader looked at a problem within the congregation and thought to himself, "Well, yes, it's a problem, but if we just leave it alone, it will take care of itself." Can we really believe that evolution principles which don't work in science are going to work out in a practical way in the church?

I wonder how many parents have looked at problems in their families and taken the same approach. Even after evolution is exposed, if we have not dealt with the cultural notions based on evolution mythology which control our behavior and relationships, we have not yet learned as we ought the truth of God's creation and the model he has given us for creating, maintaining and re-creating the systems for which we are responsible. We must change our thinking. In fact, the Apostle Paul said to his contemporaries saturated with Greek philosophy, "Stop being conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds."

In broad terms, evolution would tell us that death and struggle among monkeys somehow produced man, therefore, more death and more struggle should produce improved man. Well, we can say on a scientific level that evolution stories are nonsense. We can profess to be created in the image of God. Yet, if we allow evolution principles to control our thinking and the way we deal with our families and our churches and our businesses, we will act as though random processes will eventually improve the situation. Don't you see that it's evolution thinking which often controls our actions even when we know better? We take the cultural expectations of evolving systems and relationships and try to project hope, a hope based on randomness, hope based on chance, hope based on non-God, non-design, non-purpose.

Scripture makes it clear that is was man's actions contrary to God's design which brought about death and decay in the first place. Our neglect of God's design in favor of our own, yields only more death and decay rather than the wholesomeness, health and restoration we desire.

Jesus made it clear that he believed that the message of Moses, Genesis in particular, was essential to everything he taught. Jesus said something really interesting in John, chapter 5. He starts out by saying, "How can you believe if you accept praise from one another and yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?"

Jesus is saying, "Look out, you can get the approval of people easily. It's not that hard, just conform. Just conform to the people around you, conform to society: wear the right clothes, drink the right cola, support the right positions, and you're in.  But," he said, "people, you have got to understand that you must be seeking the praise of God. How can you believe, how could you trust God, how could you expect to receive any of the benefits of his new creation if you're not even concerned with the approval of God in your life? ... How?"

Then he went on to say, "Don't think I'm going to accuse you before the Father, your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set." He says, "If you believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wrote about me. But since you don't believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?"

Often in Jesus' ministry, when people challenged his teaching, he said, in effect, "Wait a minute. Haven't you read... It was said, in the beginning…." He then quoted Genesis. He repeatedly held his listeners accountable for the teachings of all the prophets, and Moses and Genesis in particular. For Jesus, Genesis was both the basis of theology and the foundation for practical ministry.

We look to Genesis for our theology and our understanding of the nature and character of God because it is there that his relationship to the physical universe is established and revealed. Our approach to ministry is based on what God has revealed in Genesis about the origin, meaning and purpose of relationships and institutions among men. For us to continue to blindly operate in conformity to worldly views of origins (and thus values) is to condemn every system of which we are a part, to ultimate ruin.

In contrast, it is both reasonable and in accord with common experience that the re-creation of any system requires the skill, plan and work of the original creator or another with equal or greater competence. God has clearly accepted the responsibility for both maintenance and restoration of his creation. I like to observe that God relates to his creation in three primary roles, that of Creator, Provider and Redeemer. We who are made in his image by his design might do well to follow his pattern of responsibility for created systems. This is the basic concept of what I call "The C.P.R. model" for parents, educators, church leaders and businessmen. The principles seem to apply in any position of authority and responsibility in any system.

Responsibility begins with design. In the beginning, God started with a meaningful and purposeful expression of his own character. "In the beginning was the Word." (John 1:1) Paul tells us in Ephesians that all fatherhood derives its name, or character from God. God is properly the model for every father and fatherly role in created relationships.

Responsibility is expressed through provision. A father is responsible to provide for his family. God does so and directs us to do likewise. Where we get into trouble is when we begin to improperly define the needs of relationships which God has designed. In the case of family, civil authority and church, God has designed the institution, therefore, only God is qualified to define the appropriate maintenance or regulation of the system. As already observed, every deviation from the original order involves more or less malfunction.

Children get "spoiled" when parents confuse needs and wants. Church leaders, educators and employers, likewise need to understand the parameters of their responsibility and strive to meet needs before catering to wants of their subordinates. If this responsibility begins with design and is expressed in provision, it is fulfilled in restoration. We take restoration to be virtually synonymous with renewal, new creation, redemption and reconciliation. Again, only God is competent to restore the systems he has designed, but we who have become part of God's new creation become instruments of his grace. Paul says essentially this in II Corinthians 5: "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.... We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us."

The one who is reconciled becomes a friend of God -- is in harmony with God. Reconciliation with the Creator requires honoring, and conforming to, his design. Becoming a partner with the Creator in reconciliation means re-introducing the created order to every relationship and institution of which we are a part.

There is hope for restoring broken relationships. Churches really can undergo renewal. Try the challenge of diligently devoting yourself to the model of creation revealed in Genesis and commit yourself to bringing creation design principles into your relationships. You just may discover new power to make a difference, and new hope for a glorious future.

The Scientific and Logical Real

Proofs of Creation

vs

the Scientifically Shallow, Unsound

"Proofs of Evolution"

by Tom Willis

It cannot be overstated that the textbook proofs of evolution  presented in high school and college classrooms and textbooks are all contrary to real scientific knowledge and experiments. Thus,  all such proofs are not science, but anti-science.  There is no real scientific evidence which favors, much less proves, evolution.  Among  other things, this presentation will show that all textbook, classroom,  and TV "proofs of evolution" are false.

Conversely, real scientific evidence clearly and, as close as "science"  can come to real proof, manifestly supports and/or proves that ALL matter, ALL life, and ALL of the specific "kinds" of life (typically, but wrongly referred to as "species"), were created by a non-material, supremely intelligent, living,  powerful agent that we humans refer to as "God."

SE Kansas Coal and Minerals Safari

April 13, 2013

The first Safari we will enjoy this spring will take us to the “Tri-State district” mining area of SE Kansas, SW Missouri, and NE Oklahoma. There we will examine the formation of caverns in limestone bedrock. The metallic minerals sphalerite (zinc sulfate) and galena (lead sulfate) were once mined there.  Although usually found in volcanic deposits, in this case they are found in the sedimentary rock native to that area. Nearly all metallic mineral mining there has ceased, but some coal mining continues in open-pit mines. In order to get a head start on this interesting subject I would suggest a review of the following articles before the actual Safari in April.

The first article by Dr. Emil Sylvestru (affectionately known as “the cave man”):

http://creation.com/strata-cave-dating

The second article was prepared by Mr. Mike Oard:

http://creation.com/rapid-cave-formation-by-sulfuric-acid-dissolution

The final article by Dr. Steve Austin focuses on Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, but the geology there is comparable to that of the Tri-State district.

http://creation.com/limestone-caves.

The final link is to a series of photos taken deep under a Mexican lead and zinc mine. A large cavern, the Naica cave is full of enormous selenite or gypsum crystals. This cave is important because it is situated beneath the zinc and lead mining operations much like the Tri-State mining area that we will visit. Be amazed at this YouTube video on the Naica crystal cave:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYieaqE4eAk

These are two of many photos that were taken in the Naica cave. The men are dwarfed by the enormous crystals.

(I know that giant crystals can be grown in a laboratory, in a short amount of time. Several facilities in the Kansas City area specialize in growing quartz crystals. The process takes about a month, and usable crystals are produced up to 3 feet in length. )

The supposed long ages required for these giant crystals to form is not based on observation. Not a single observer was there when these were formed. The suggested amount of time required for the natural super-saturated solution to cool is a uniformitarian guess.
